Plans & billing

LightNow uses a layered plan model:

  • User-level plans – for individual usage.
  • Tenant-level plans – for organizations and team-wide governance.

Billing is handled via Stripe in the SaaS offering and via separate agreements for dedicated deployments.

User-level plans

Free

The Free plan is the default when you create a user account.

You get:

  • Access to the public registry,
  • Ability to browse MCP servers and view basic trust information,
  • Ability to mark favorites on user level.

Limitations:

  • No advanced governance,
  • No tenant-specific features,
  • No dedicated SLAs.

Standard

The Standard plan is for professional users.

Additional to Free:

  • Extended detail on trust score and evaluation,
  • Access to private registry features (depending on environment),
  • Priority for new features focused on individual power users.

Upgrade path:

  1. Go to the Pricing page in the UI.
  2. In the Standard column, click Upgrade to Standard.
  3. Complete the Stripe Checkout flow.
  4. On success, your user account plan is set to standard.

Billing details, invoices and payment methods are managed via the Stripe customer portal, which you can open from your profile or billing section.

Tenant-level plans

Tenant plans apply to organizations (tenants), not directly to users.

Enterprise

The Enterprise plan is for organization-wide usage:

Includes everything from user plans plus:

  • Organization workspaces with custom subdomains (e.g. acme.lightnow.ai),
  • SSO / identity provider federation (for example OIDC or SAML),
  • Tenant branding (logo and colors),
  • Shared tenant favorites and settings,
  • Basis for policies & governance on tenant level.

Typical flow:

  1. A user with sufficient permissions creates an organization via the wizard in their profile.
  2. The tenant is provisioned in the Admin-API, Registry-API and identity layer.
  3. The tenant is linked to an Enterprise plan (initially via an upgrade gate on the Pricing page).
  4. Billing for the tenant can be managed via the organization’s billing section.

Enterprise Dedicated

Enterprise Dedicated is for organizations that want a dedicated deployment or BYOC/on-prem setup.

In addition to Enterprise:

  • Dedicated or isolated deployment environment,
  • Extended customization options,
  • Custom SLAs and security requirements.

The upgrade is not handled via self-service Stripe Checkout.
Organizations interested in Enterprise Dedicated typically:

  • Start with an Enterprise tenant,
  • Then contact the LightNow team to discuss deployment and commercial terms.

How billing is implemented (SaaS)

On the SaaS side, billing is backed by Stripe:

  • For user-level Standard plans:

    • LightNow creates or reuses a Stripe customer for the user.
    • A subscription to the Standard product/price is created via Checkout.
    • Webhooks update the Admin-API about subscription state.
    • The Admin-API propagates plan changes to other components.
  • For tenant-level Enterprise plans:

    • The Admin-API tracks which tenant is on which plan.
    • The tenant creation wizard can include an Enterprise upgrade gate.
    • Stripe is used to collect payments for the tenant, and the plan is updated accordingly.

In the LightNow UI:

  • The Pricing page is the primary entrypoint for upgrades.
  • The Profile page (for users) and Tenant settings (for organizations) link to the Stripe customer portal so that customers can:
    • update payment methods,
    • view invoices,
    • manage subscriptions.
